Salesforce of the U.S. acquires Israeli data company Own for USD1.9 billion in cash

Salesforce has announced its acquisition of Own Co., a startup specializing in cloud-based data backup, for USD 1.9 billion in cash. The deal, expected to close by January 2025 pending regulatory approval, signals a return to major acquisitions for Salesforce.

DLA Piper advised Own Co. on the U.S. aspects of the transaction, led by Peter Phillips and Jeremy Lustman. The firm collaborated closely with FWMK, Own Co.’s lead counsel, with key contributions from Erez Mizrachi, Ayelet Oscar, Inbal Sustiel, Amit Hirsch, and Nir Sadeh.

Meitar acted as domestic counsel for Salesforce, with a team consisting of Itay Frishman, Hila Silverstein, Liat Hertzka, Dr. Michael Bricker, Dr. Shimrit Itay-Horev , Tali Yavin – Surasky , Yael Kalman, Yael Nardi, Abigail Lionarons, Ayelet Totah, Hadas Simchi, Noa Haimi Cohen, Noam Goorhuis-Dror, Or Hazon, Samson Morpurgo and Shani Rubinstein.

The company, previously known as OwnBackup, develops data protection and data management solutions.
