Israel’s cellular infrastructure market to open to new players

Israel’s Communications Ministry has announced plans to open the cellular infrastructure market to new players, aiming to boost competition and enhance 5G support. The decision, pending a hearing, will allow entrepreneurs to operate cellular infrastructure using frequencies already allocated to existing companies.

Currently, three networks operate in Israel—Pelephone, Cellcom and Wecom, and Partner and Hot Mobile—each maintaining their own infrastructure. This move is expected to diversify the market and promote innovation within the sector.
