Sweden’s MTG buys Israeli gaming company Plarium for up to USD820m

Swedish digital entertainment company Modern Times Group (MTG) has acquired Israeli gaming firm Plarium for up to USD 820 million. The deal strengthens MTG’s portfolio in the online gaming sector, positioning it to reach a broader audience.

Plarium, headquartered in Herzliya, is known for developing popular mobile and social games such as “Raid: Shadow Legends” and has 1,200 employees across various locations globally.

The acquisition terms include an initial payment of USD 640 million, with an additional performance-based consideration contingent on financial targets. Plarium, founded in 2009, primarily focuses on the free-to-play games market, boasting a robust user base of over 250 million worldwide.

This transaction highlights the attractiveness of Israeli gaming technology and MTG’s intent to enhance its competitive footprint in interactive entertainment.
