Andreessen Horowitz Expands Israel Investments

Andreessen Horowitz, the prominent US-based venture capital firm managing USD 45 billion, has emerged as one of the most active foreign investors in Israel, according to the IVC-Gornitzky-KPMG-Israel Innovation Authority 2024 report. The firm invested in seven new Israeli startups last year, marking a significant increase from four investments in 2023. Historically focused on US-based companies such as Facebook, Airbnb, and Coinbase, Andreessen Horowitz’s increased activity signals a long-term commitment to Israel’s tech sector.

While Israeli-focused funds NFX (nine investments) and Ibex (eight investments) led in new deals, Andreessen Horowitz joined global firms such as Lightspeed (six investments), Insight Partners, Index Ventures, and Bessemer Venture Partners (five each) in expanding their presence. Despite strong foreign investment, fundraising by Israeli venture capital firms dropped to a decade-low of USD 1.15 billion, raising concerns about the future of locally driven funding.
