Moovit Launches First-Ever Mobility-Based Carbon Credits Project

Moovit has officially launched a world-first carbon credits project, now listed in the Canadian CSA CleanProjects Registry.
The initiative leverages Moovit’s proprietary travel data and methodology to generate carbon credits from real commuter behaviour — specifically, the emission reductions achieved when people choose public transit over private cars. This allows cities and transit operators to issue carbon credits based on actual public transport usage across multiple regions.
Herzog’s Environment & Climate Change team advised Moovit on the project, marking a significant step in driving climate innovation through urban mobility.
