Israel hits Coca-Cola unit with competition fine
The Israel Competition Authority fined The Central Bottling Company, which operates Coca-Cola Israel and Tara Dairy, NIS17.7 million for violating food-market competition rules by influencing product displays, dairy prices and making improper retailer payments.
The authority reduced the penalty due to the company’s cooperation and settlement efficiency, and took no action against executives.
Central Bottling is one of Israel’s largest food and beverage firms, marketing global and local brands such as Coca-Cola, Carlsberg, Smirnoff, Prigat juices, and Tara dairy products. The Competition Authority’s proactive review, launched in 2022, has already reached agreements with most large suppliers and will next examine large retailers’ compliance with the Food and Pharmacy laws.
