OpenAI selects Sheba Medical Center as first non-US hospital for healthcare AI program
Sheba Medical Center has signed a strategic partnership with OpenAI that will give physicians at Israel’s largest hospital access to OpenAI’s dedicated healthcare AI models.
The agreement makes Sheba the first hospital outside the United States to join OpenAI’s healthcare program. Under the partnership, Sheba physicians will receive early access to OpenAI’s latest healthcare models, including ChatGPT Health, which are designed to help clinicians make medical decisions and develop treatment plans based on current clinical research.
Sheba’s ARC innovation arm will participate in product development, gain insight into new models during development, attend OpenAI healthcare events, and build internal applications optimized for the platform. Sheba is also expected to integrate its clinical protocols, treatment pathways, and institutional guidelines into the models, allowing responses to reflect the hospital’s approved standards and potentially support recommendations tailored to Israeli clinical practice.
The collaboration builds on Sheba’s broader AI and digital health activity through ARC, which works with startups, healthcare institutions, and investors to develop and test new medical technologies.
