AI is omnipresent wherever we go and whatever we read but where does the law stand on patenting the technology?

Where patents are concerned, interested parties have made efforts to convince patent authorities worldwide that AI should be granted the status of “inventor” because it is capable of developing inventions on its own.
So far, those efforts have not been successful because one of the requirements in most patent laws is that an inventor must be human, and AI does not qualify as such (at least for the time being).
