Israel’s Discount Investment sells control of tech investment arm Elron Ventures for USD53m

Israeli holding company Discount Investment Corporation Ltd. has agreed to sell its 59.1% stake in technology investment arm Elron Ventures for USD 53.2 million.

The buyer is a relatively unknown family office called Arieli EL, valuing Elron at USD 90 million, which reflects a 50% premium on its market capitalisation.

Arnon, Tadmor Levy acts for Discount Investment, led by Partners Shiri Shaham and Shai Margalit.

Arieli EL was represented by Erdinast, Ben Nathan, Toledano & Co., led by  Partners Doni Toledano and Irina (Iris) Kushel with the support of tax Partners Dr. Eran Lempert and Tal Alon.

Founded in the 1960s, Elron Ventures is a prominent Israeli technology incubator that went public in 1975. The firm focuses on investing in early-stage companies in sectors such as medical devices, cybersecurity, and software.

Elron Ventures has played a pivotal role in the development of well-known companies, including Elbit Systems, Orbotech, Given Imaging, Netvision, and Elscint. A recent presentation indicated that Elron has achieved 14 exits worth a total of USD 1.8 billion since 2010, with its share amounting to USD 660 million.
