Bank of Israel proposal could open Wall Street to Israeli banks
The Bank of Israel is considering a regulatory change that could allow Israeli banks to list their shares for trading on Wall Street.
According to Globes, the Supervisor of Banks distributed a memo to Israeli banks proposing that they be allowed to publish financial statements according to US accounting principles. If implemented, the change could remove a key barrier preventing Israeli banks from pursuing US listings.
The move could increase share tradability, attract foreign investors, and support bank valuations, particularly as Israeli bank shares continue to draw market attention. In July, bank shares led the local indices with gains of approximately 10%.
The proposal comes as Israel’s banking system continues to post strong results despite the war, drawing greater interest from international investors. A Wall Street listing option could give Israeli banks access to deeper capital markets and broader analyst coverage while expanding the global investor base for the sector.
