Israel moves to build national quantum computing R&D hub
Israel is advancing plans for a national quantum computing research and development center aimed at strengthening the country’s position in the next major technology wave.
Israel Innovation Authority CEO Dror Bin said the center would provide a shared environment where Israeli companies developing quantum processors, algorithms, controllers, and related technologies can test, integrate, and benchmark their systems together. The goal is not necessarily to build a complete Israeli quantum computer, but to create infrastructure that allows local companies to contribute key components to leading global systems.
Bin said approximately 10% of global private investment in early-stage quantum computing companies went to Israeli companies in 2025, highlighting the country’s growing role in the field. He expects practical quantum applications to emerge before 2030 and said Israeli high-tech must remain at the forefront of the sector.
The initiative comes as countries including the United States, China, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and Australia increase investment in quantum technologies. Bin said Israel’s advantage will likely come from specialized companies working across the quantum stack, rather than from building every layer of the technology independently.
