Mekorot secures 65 MW allocation in electricity availability procedures
Mekorot, Israel’s national water company, has secured an aggregate 65 MW allocation across two Israel Electricity Authority availability certificate procedures.
The company received a 40 MW allocation in the second procedure, following a 25 MW allocation in the first procedure.
Mekorot is Israel’s largest electricity consumer, accounting for a meaningful share of national electricity consumption due to the energy-intensive nature of water supply and infrastructure operations. The additional allocation is expected to support the company’s efforts to reduce and optimize its electricity costs.
The second procedure included 500 MW of discounted electricity availability, with OPC receiving the largest allocation at 200 MW. Other winners included Dalia with 100 MW, Edeltech with 80 MW, Innova with 55 MW, Mekorot with 40 MW, and Cellcom Energy with 25 MW.
Epstein Rosenblum Maoz advised Mekorot, with the team led by Asaf Rimon, Ori Nehmad, David Hacohen, and Oren Arad.
